MASSENA -- The Massena Memorial Hospital Foundation recently recognized John Murray for many years with the foundation.
He was the foundation's first paid employee, serving as director from 1991 to 1993, as well as a board member for the past 20 years.
“Mr. Murray has watched the MMH Foundation grow from a newly formed organization to what it is now,” foundation Director Julia Rose said.
"We are sad to see such a long-standing member leave the board but we know he won't be very far away. John is a true champion of the hospital and that won't change. It has been a pleasure serving alongside him during my tenure. He has had such a positive impact on the MMH Foundation," said MMH Foundation President Miriam Catapano.
"John has been instrumental in moving our organization forward. Always the first to sign up to volunteer at our radiothon or golf tournament, he would be at the events for hours with a smile on his face welcoming each person - for there were few he didn't know. I knew I could count on John and Helen for help with each event. I do hope they continue to visit us on event days," said Julianne Fowler, the foundation’s events coordinator.
