MASSENA -- In the first month since it opened Massena Memorial Hospital Walk-In Clinic has treated patients from as young as 12 months old to senior citizens.

The clinic is located in the in the Levine Outpatient Center, which is the renovated space that was originally the old Emergency Department.

People can drive under the canopy to drop a family member off to enter the clinic. The hospital has installed a lighted sign for people who are driving up the facility will be able to spot the Walk-In Clinic very easily from Hospital Drive.

“The Walk-In Clinic was designed for access to affordable health care,” explained Charles F. Fahd, II, FACHE, Chief Executive Officer.

“Our professional healthcare team will take care of your common ailments, routine screenings, minor injuries, corporate physicals and follow up care. The utilization is just the first two weeks has been wonderful; the community’s patronage is very supportive.”

The Walk-In Clinic is open every day, and no appointment is ever necessary.

There are two full time healthcare providers, Joe Lamb, Physician Assistant and Alicia Sienkiewycz, Nurse Practitioner; together they have over a decade of experience in Emergency, Rural and Primary Care medicine. Other members of the Walk-In Clinic team are Amanda Kahrs, LPN, Christina Skonieczny, Clerk, Trevor Kench, LPN, Kim Marasco, Medical Assistant and Christina Leigh, Clerk.

The clinic was developed to be convenient with no appointment needed and operating with extended hours every day.

“To date we are averaging 21-25 patients a day and have treated over 300 patients in the first few weeks, from people with minor injuries to illness such as upper respiratory and flu like symptoms,” explained Zach Chapman, Senior Director of Practice Management. “Our goal is for people to be in and out; meaning triaged and treated within an hour. For the most part we are exceeding this, but there are times when someone may wait a little longer. It seems people come to the clinic in waves.”

The MMH Walk-In Clinic provides services that include evaluating injuries and illnesses; physicals, allergy immunizations, the healthcare team will take care of common ailments, routine screenings, minor injuries, corporate physicals and follow up care.

The normal clinic hours are Monday through Friday 8 a.m. to 8 p.m.; Saturday and Sunday 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. On Christmas the Walk-In Clinic will be open to see patients from 2 to 6 p.m.
