MASSENA -- Mayor Timmy J. Currier says in light of a number of complaints that people are not cutting their grass he is reminding residents that the village code says there is a six-inch limit.
“I have received a number of calls as of late on this issue,” Currier said in a Friday statement. “I am always willing to take those calls, however the most efficient way to get action is to contact our code department directly.”
Chapter 110 of the Village Code requires that all grass, and weeds greater than six inches in length be cut, Currier said.
Currier says people can make complaints to the code office at 769-6803. They will inspect the property and if there’s a violation, will give the owner five days to remedy the problem. If not, they could be fined, he said.
“We currently have 21 parcels that have been found to be in violation of this code that our staff is dealing with,” Currier said. “We appreciate the neighbor’s patience as we follow the code and get to these as quickly as we can.”
