MASSENA -- Advancing Tobacco Free Communities of Jefferson, Lewis and St. Lawrence Counties will honor Massena Mayor Tim Currier as a “community champion” on Feb. 9.
“Mr. Currier has gone above and beyond his obligated duties of term and strived to make his community healthier and safer for all of its citizens,” said ATFCJLSLC Assistant Program Coordinator Elizabeth Billings. “In 2015. Mr. Currier helped to pass two tobacco-free policies in the town of Massena regarding zoning and tobacco-free outdoors.”
The laws restrict tobacco use within 25 feet of any village property or building.
“Advancing Tobacco Free Communities of Jefferson, Lewis, & St. Lawrence counties would like to thank Mr. Currier for his courageous and immense efforts to making Massena a healthier place to live,” Billings said.
Currier will be honored at the Feb. 9 event at the Legislative Office Building in Albany. It will be in room C from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. with awards at noon.
