MASSENA -- Mayor Tim Currier says he will announce on Tuesday 10 areas he wants his Moving Massena Forward Coalition to target as part of community development efforts.

The meeting will be at the Massena Community Center, 61 Beach St. at 7 p.m.

“The coalition’s core members have identified ten priority areas to focus on which will diversify the economy, resurrect neighborhoods, make the community a better looking place to live and work and improve economic conditions for all,” Currier said.

He says the “priority areas of focus” include downtown arts and culture, natural resources and outdoor recreation, destination marketing and community re-branding, community broadband and wifi hotspots, sports, healthy living, agriculture and agribusiness, sustainability and clean power, manufacturing and regional partnerships.

He would not reveal who comprises the coalition, but said he would name them at the meeting.

Residents can give input at the meeting, Currier said.

“Participation by community members is vital to ensure these strategies are realistic and align with other ideas and initiatives, so I encourage our citizens to join the coalition and be a part of Massena’s future,” Currier said. “Several stakeholder meetings are being planned in June and will be announced at the presentation to encourage participation in developing the strategies.”
