MASSENA -- Mayor Timmy Currier says he is taking the first steps toward crafting the 2015-2016 village budget.
“The budget process is under way. Department budgets were due to me yesterday,” Currier said Tuesday night. “I’m trying to schedule budget hearings now.”
The 2014-2015 spending plan brought a 4.75-percent tax increase.
The final tax rate, at 100-percent equalization, was $14.99 per $1,000 of assessed value. This means the owner of a property assessed at $50,000 was billed $749.50 and the owner of a $100,000 property had to pay $1,499.
