MASSENA -- A Massena man on parole for drug charges stemming from Operation Gravy Train was arrested Wednesday on new counts alleging possession of crack and heroin with intent to sell.
At 10:15 a.m., police charged Mariano T. Patterson, 52, of 20 Parker Ave. Apt. 1 with two counts of third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance with intent to sell, two counts of criminal use of drug paraphernalia and single counts of criminal possession of a hypodermic needle and unlawful possession of marijuana.
Police said they entered the apartment with a search warrant after being contacted by state parole officers.
Inside, they found 4.24 grams of heroin in several packages, 2.7 grams of crack cocaine packaged for sale, packaging material, scales, a hypodermic needle and less than a gram of marijuana, investigators said.
Police said Patterson was arraigned in Massena court by judge Eric Gustafson and remanded to the St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, without bail.
Operation Gravy Train was a multi-agency drug bust that in 2017 resulted in the arrest of over 100 suspects from around New York state and New Jersey for selling heroin, cocaine and fentanyl in the North Country.
