MASSENA -- A Massena man is jailed without bail for allegedly possessing a stolen boat valued at more than $50,000 and more than 40 marijuana plants, both of which police say were in his backyard.

Seth Moyer, 39, of 22 Dana St. was charged Tuesday with second-degree criminal possession of stolen property and third-degree criminal mischief, both felonies, as well as misdemeanor unlicensed growing of cannabis, village police said.

On Tuesday around 10 p.m., police say they recovered a stolen 2015 Nitro boat. It had been reported stolen earlier in the day from an address on county Route 38 in Norfolk, police said.

Investigators tracked it down at Moyer’s residence, where they say they also found “other various items of stolen property from separate incidents in the Town of Norfolk” and 46 pot plants.

State police troop B spokesperson Jennifer Fleishman said investigatos are woking to determine the owners of the various stolen items and further charges may be pending.

Moyer was arraigned by Massena Town Justice Gerald Sharlow and sent to the St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, without bail.
