MASSENA -- A Massena man is jailed on multiple charges, including robbery, for allegedly throwing his fiancée to the ground and stealing her tip money during a domestic incident.

Aaron M. Thompson, 30, of 73 Ames St. is charged with third-degree robbery, second-degree unlawful imprisonment, fourth-degree criminal mischief and second-degree harassment.

His fiancée, Sara M. Henry, told police that she returned him from working as a server at the Village Inn and Thompson demanded her tip money, which she said was $105.

She said after refusing to give it to him, he blocked the door to their bedroom and refused to let her leave, then picked her up and threw her to the ground and laid on top of her to pin her, striking her head on a fan as she fell. He searched her pockets and bra while covering her mouth and at one point jammed four fingers in her mouth while he frisked her, Henry told police.

She threatened to call police, so he took the battery from their house phone, Henry said. Court documents state that police found the battery in his pocket.

Thompson admitted most of what happened in a statement to investigators. He said he pushed her down and held her in what he described as a “halfguard” position while he searched her for the money. She also admitted blocking the door to stop her from leaving. The only discrepancy between his version of events and Henry’s is he claims he took the phone to call his mother to ask if he could sleep there and denied taking the battery out.

Thompson was arraigned by Massena Village Justice Eric Gustafson and remanded to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility, Canton in lieu of $5,000 bail or $10,000 bond.

Thompson has another pending case where he is accused of the Oct. 1 burglary of Lottie’s Beauty Salon, which is next door to his residence. In that incident, he is charged with second-degree burglary, third-degree grand larceny and criminal trespass.

He is accused of stealing upwards of $10,000 from the residence above the salon he was supposed to have been watching while the owner was away.
