FOWLER – A Massena man was jailed without bail for possession of heroin with a street value around $20,000, according to St. Lawrence Country Sheriff’s Drug Task Force Investigators.

Elvis E. Pigott, 40, was charged Wednesday with third-degree criminal possession with intent to sell, third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, all felonies, investigators said.

The arrest reportedly stems from a heroin trafficking investigation with one of the charges related to an undercover operation that took place this month in Massena by members of the county drug task force.

Task force members were reportedly comprised of sheriff's detectives, members of the Massena Police Department, Gouverneur Police Department, New York State Police Narcotics Unit and Special Agents from Department Of Homeland Security, took Pigott into custody at the intersection of State Highway 812 and State Highway 58.

Following a traffic stop and subsequent search, Pigott was allegedly found to be in possession of approximately 60 grams of heroin.

He was arraigned in the Fowler Town Court and sent to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility without bail.

The investigation continues and further charges and arrests are expected, investigators said.
