MASSENA -- A Massena man was jailed today after allegedly dropping a bag of crack on the village police station floor when he was being booked for a misdemeanor aggravated unlicensed operation charge in the early morning hours.
Daniel P. Robertson, 35, of 154 N. Main St. is charged with fifth-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, a felony. He is also facing counts of second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, unlicensed operation, failure to signal and no inspection.
A statement from Officer Cody Wilson says he responded to a traffic stop on outer Willow Street in the early morning hours Wednesday. He said he brought Robertson back to the station in handcuffs and put him in a secure holding room. Wilson said he then found a half-gram of crack on the floor near the patrol room door. He said in his statement that it was not there when he first entered.
Robertson was charged at 1:30 a.m.
He was arraigned this morning in Massena Village Court and remanded to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility, Canton in lieu of $1,500 bail or $3,000 bond.
