MASSENA -- A village resident is jailed after allegedly breaking into a home and stealing firearms.
Edward R. Ash Jr., 31, of Parker Avenue, Massena is charged with second-degree burglary, petit larceny and fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property.
On Aug. 25 around 10:30 p.m., Ash allegedly broke into 48 Phillips Street in Massena and stole two long guns valued at $320, according to documents filed with Massena Village Court. That resulted in the burglary and theft charges.
In a separate instance, Ash purchased power tools at Home Depot with a stolen Home Depot credit card, the documents say.
Ash was arraigned Friday by Massena Town Justice Gerald Sharlow and remanded to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility, Canton, in lieu of $2,000 bail or $4,000 bond, the documents say.
