A Massena man is jailed after police say he beat up an acquaintance and stole his money.
Joshua Henderson, 28, of Perkins Road is charged with third-degree robbery, a felony, petit larceny, a misdemeanor, and second-degree harassment, a violation.
Police said the incident took place May 10 behind the labor union building on Maple Street, which is near the trailer park entrance. The report came in that day around 3:11 p.m., police said.
Henderson allegedly shoved the victim down and started punching, kicking and scratching the person. He then took his wallet and stole $270, police said.
Police say they charged Henderson at 10:07 p.m. on East Orvis Street.
He was arraigned in Massena court by Justice Patrick Serguson and remanded to the St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, in lieu of $5,000 bail or $10,000 bond with orders to re-appear for a preliminary hearing on Friday, police said.
