MASSENA -- A Massena man is jailed on $10,000 bail after he allegedly assaulted his girlfriend and smashed her cell phone.
Alan L. Russell Jr., 32, of 230 Barnhart Road, Massena is charged with unlawful imprisonment, criminal obstruction of breathing, fourth-degree criminal mischief and second-degree harassment.
Police said he took his girlfriend’s cell phone and when she tried to get it back, he punched her several times in the face while grabbing her hair and pinned her to the ground by her neck. She was able to break free and called police from a neighbor’s house.
Russell was arraigned before Justice Eric Gustafson and remanded to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility, Canton in lieu of $10,000 bail.
