MASSENA -- A Massena man is jailed without bail on a felony and several misdemeanors after assaulting a female and fighting with police who were responding to a domestic violence call at his residence.
Howard E. Donnelly, 34, of Willow Street is charged with third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, felony, and misdemeanor counts of third-degree assault, unlawful imprisonment, resisting arrest and criminal possession of a hypodermic instrument.
Patrols were responding to a call at 2 Willow St. around 12:50 p.m. Thursday and saw Donnelly run out the back of the building, Chief Adam Love said.
He said patrols caught up with him, where a struggle ensued, resulting in minor injuries to Ptl. Mike Flynn and Donnelly.
The alleged victim had also sustained minor injuries at Donnelly’s hands, Love said.
Donnelly was charged with the weapon count for having a switchblade, which was elevated to a felony because he has prior convictions, police said.
He also allegedly had two hypodermic needles on him.
Donnelly was arriagned in Norfolk Town Court by Justice George Grubee and remanded to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility, Canton, without bail.
