MASSENA — A Massena man is one of a dozen North Country Red Cross volunteers heading south as Hurricane Florence approaches.
Randy Saumier is leaving for North Carolina today (Sept. 11) to assist and help residents there following storms that are expected to impact hundreds of thousands of people across the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans.
At the peak of hurricane season, the American Red Cross is prepared to respond over 9,000 miles of land and sea as powerful storms threaten, officials said in a press release.
Typhoon Mangkhut is hitting Guam today; Hurricane Olivia is expected to cross over Hawaii Tuesday and Wednesday; and Hurricane Florence is on track to strike the coast of North or South Carolina beginning Wednesday.
