MASSENA -- A man is facing charges after allegedly letting the air out of a Massena police patrol vehicle’s tire and then resisting when officers tried to arrest him for it.

Robert I. Carr, 32, State Rt. 56, Massena, is charged with third-degree criminal tampering, resisting arrest and unlawful possession of marijuana.

On Sunday around 7:25 p.m., Carr allegedly let the air from the right rear tire of a village police patrol car that was parked at Walmart. Ptl. Nicholas Belile said in a statement said several people at the store saw it happen and pointed out Carr. When he tried to arrest him, Carr struggled, Belile said in his statement. He also allegedly had a glass pipe with marijuana in it at the time, Belile’s statement said.

Carr was arraigned in Massena court by Justice Gerald Sharlow and remanded to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility, Canton, in lieu of $1,000 bail or $2,000 bond, according to documents filed with the court.
