MASSENA -- Village police say a Massena man is jailed on several charges, including a felony, following a domestic violence incident at his mother's home over the weekend.
Bruce D. McDonald Jr., 32, of Howard Street is charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief, felony, and misdemeanors including two counts of fourth-degree criminal mischief and a single count of petit larceny.
He was charged at 6:56 p.m. Tuesday at the police station, police said.
According to documents filed with Massena Village Court, McDonald called his mother at 4:30 a.m. Saturday saying he had been arrested for public urination and needed $60 more to make $80 bail.
She didn't give him the money, so he showed up at her home and started slamming glass doors in a cabinet until they broke, the documents said.
McDonald's mother said she was calling police, so he ripped the cord from the phone, according to court documents.
She told police she wrote him a $100 check so he would leave, the documents said.
On his way out, McDonald spotted her NBT Bank debit card on the floor, took it, and used it to buy $300 worth of Walmart gift cards, according to court documents.
McDonald was arraigned in Massena Village Court by Justice Patrick Serguson and remanded to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility, Canton, in lieu of $1,500 bail or $3,000 bond, police said.
