MASSENA – A Massena man charged last fall with sexually assaulting an 86-year-old woman in 2009 has been arrested for allegedly exposing his private parts while standing outside a female’s back door, according to village police.

Jason D. Tassie, 30, of 124 Main St., Apt. 2, was charged Monday with criminal trespassing third degree, a misdemeanor, and exposure of a person, a violation, police said.

The arrest is the result of an investigation that began on July 26, 2012 at 11:45 p.m. where a female reported to police a man was standing outside her back patio door exposing his private parts, police said.

DNA results returned from the New York State Police Forensic Investigation Center were used to confirm the identity of Tassie and support criminal charges, police said.

In 2009, a DNA match was also used to charge Tassie with burglary and sexual assault of the 86-year-old woman.

"This arrest demonstrates the value of DNA evidence and how law enforcement can utilize it to help bring cases to a successful close," said Police Chief Timmy J. Currier.

Tassie was arraigned before Village Justice Eric J. Gustafson on the most recent charges and released without bail. He is to face the charges in court at a later date, police said.
