MASSENA -- A Canton man is jailed without bail on accusations of forcibly raping a 14-year-old girl.
Tyler E. Provost, 20, is charged with first-degree rape, child endangerment, criminal contempt and petit larceny, police said.
On Aug. 7 around 8:30 a.m., Provost allegedly restrained the teenager by her hands and raped her at an apartment on East Hatfield Street, according to documents filed with Massena Village Court.
On that count, he was arraigned by Massena Justice Gerald Sharlow and ordered held at the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility, Canton, without bail, the documents say.
The contempt and theft charges stem from incidents unrelated to the rape, according to the documents.
On July 25, he allegedly broke a stay-away order of protection barring him from seeing his son who is nine months old. It was issued out of St. Lawrence County Family Court and is in place until Feb. 22, 2024, the documents say.
For the petit larceny count, allegedly stole an RCA tablet, a pack of cigarettes and three pairs of boxer shorts from a residence on Ober Street on July 23 around 10 p.m.
