MASSENA -- The Massena Board of Education gave a proclamation on Thursday congratulating the Massena Lady Red Raiders on their 2014-2015 state title, the squad’s first ever.

Head Coach Jennifer Grey thanked the board and the players families for standing behind them throughout the season.

“I thank everyone on the school board and in the school community for providing this opportunity for our student athletes,” she said. “The memories they take with them will last a lifetime.”

Interim Superintendent of Schools William Flynn read from the proclamation which lauded their accomplishments in the rink and the classroom.

It mentioned their designation as state Scholar Athlete Team and that 13 were recognized by NYSPHAA for their grades.

The team finished the season with a 10-8 record before moving on to an undefeated post-season.

The team includes Bailey Dillabough, KC Herne, Shaunessy LaClair, Kyrsten Stone, Bailey Thomas, Molly O’Connell, Abbey Paduano, Iakohehiio Cook, Ellen Green, Maddy Mailhot, Mia Jermano, Brittany Streeter, Kahsenniiostha Jacobs, Mikenna Merry, Abbie Paquin, Emily Wilmshurst, Maddi Dillabough, Ellexia Lazore, Rachel Hurlbut, Amber Thomas, Logan Deshaies, Raechel Davis and Camryn Peets.

Grey’s assistant coaches are Greg Paquin and Taylor Zappia.

The team managers are Tim Belile and Gisele Todd.
