MASSENA -- Village police say a level 3 sex offender was jailed without bail on Friday for rape after he allegedly had sex with a 15-year-old girl.

Christopher G. Wing, 30, of 11 Greenbush St., Cortland is facing a felony count of third-degree rape and a misdemeanor count of endangering the welfare of a child.

Wing gave a statement to police where he admitted having sex with the girl at the 49 1/2 Maple St. trailer park on June 27 around 7 p.m.

The alleged victim also gave a statement corroborating the story, according to court documents.

The girl said she met Wing on Facebook about three weeks prior to their tryst, claiming he initially engaged her. She said she told him multiple times that she was underage.

According to the state sex offender registry, Wing has two prior sex crime convictions.

Wing was arraigned by Massena Town Justice Gerald Sharlow and remanded to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility, Canton without bail.

He was convicted Oct. 20, 2012 of attempted promoting and possessing a sexual performance by a child. He was sentenced to three years’ probation, which hasn’t yet expired.

He was convicted in 2008 of attempted second-degree rape and sentenced to 16 months to four years in state prison. He was paroled in mid-2011 and returned to state custody on July 11 that year for failure to register as a sex offender and was discharged four months later, according to New York State Department of Corrections and Community Supervision prison records.
