MASSENA -- The Massena Central School District will hold a public forum on their plans to place an armed police officer in school, a position officials call a "school resource officer."
The forum will be Wednesday, Feb. 27 at 6:30 p.m. in the high school's room 314. Superintendent Patrick Brady said it will include a presentation and panel discussion.
Board of Education members have been discussing the possibility of adding the position for months.
In December, a lengthy discussion mainly centered around whether or not the district should hire a retired officer or contract through the Massena Police Department for a current officer. More details about that are here.
Last month, a concerned parent approached the board and said he thinks it's dangerous to place an armed officer in school. More about that is here.
