MASSENA -- The Massena Central school board decided on Thursday night to start paying assistant boys and girls varsity hockey coaches.
“I think this is a good move,” Trustee Kevin Peretta said. “It … protects the liability of the district and the students involved.”
The district will pay assistant coaches Ken Hurlbut, who is with the boys team, and Gregory Paquin, who helps with the girls contingent, $3,193 salaries per year.
They were working as volunteers.
