MASSENA -- An improvement project at the footbridge park at the south end of Liberty Avenue may be held up until next summer, according to the Department of Public Works chief.
He said the problem is over a Department of Transportation inspector.
“The village was going to proceed with the project … they wanted an inspector on-site,” DPW Superintendent Hassan Fayad said. “They didn’t want the inspector working for the Village of Massena.
“State DOT is providing inspection for the project, so there is discussion going on the clarify how the inspector is paid and who he/she takes direction from,” Mayor Tim Currier said following Tuesday’s Board of Trustees meeting. “We are working that out with the Department of Transportation.
“We are hopeful the project will go out to bid in December,” Currier said.
