MASSENA -- A fundraiser is underway to raise money for a fireworks show in lieu of the usual event at the St. Lawrence Centre mall, which is canceled due to lack of funds, according to Kortney Trippany. She is one of the fundraiser's organizers.
Locals Jessica Baxter and Trippany are working with the Massena Chamber of Commerce to garner $10,000 by June 16.
It will pay for the show at night, along with an afternoon and evening family fun day leading up to the fireworks.
They will advertise all sponsors and donors.
If they don’t raise the money on time, there will be a fireworks show at a different location, which will be announced sometime after June 17, Trippany said.
Donations can be dropped off at Baxter’s Automotive on East Orvis Street in Massena or at Majestic Fireworks in the St. Lawrence Centre.
