Massena Fire sent in four firefighters equipped with Air Packs to search the school for anyone left behind.
MASSENA -- If you saw a lot of unusual activity around Nightengale Elementary School today, you were probably witnessing the annual Massena Rescue and Massena Fire Department evacuation drill at the school.
Students lined up according to class and evacuated the school from its many emergency exits. Massena Rescue EMTs stood by as the students were evacuated to the nearby high school building.
The drill lasted about an hour and was a great success according to elementary school officials and Randy Montour of the Massena Rescue Squad.
More info on the squad is at www.massenarescue.org.
