MASSENA -- The village is looking at adding an additional administrative fee when billing property owners for lawn mowing.
Mayor Tim Currier said they contract for the service with NYSARC, which is mostly done on a few vacant properties.
He said they bill the property owner and if they don’t pay, it’s added to the owner’s tax bill.
The only issue is the village aren’t getting money back to pay for things like any action by the code office or the village clerk, Currier said.
The new charge, which the board will revisit at their June meeting, will be “similar to a court fee,” Trustee Tim Ahlfeld said.
