CANTON – A Massena couple face charges following an investigation that narcotics were allegedly mailed from the wife to the husband who was an inmate at the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility.
Jessica E. Dodd, 34, and Darrell P. Dodd, 30, were both arrested Friday for fourth-degree conspiracy, second-degree promoting prison contraband, according to St. Lawrence County sheriff’s deputies.
Jessica was additionally charged with third-degree attempted criminal sale of a controlled substance, officers said.
Deputies allege that Jessica mailed a letter with suboxone infused into the paper to her husband who was incarcerated at the time in July of 2013.
The letter was intercepted by jail staff prior to reaching the inmate and deputies were alerted, officers said.
Darrell was issued appearance tickets and is to appear in Canton Town Court at a later date, officers said.
Jessica was arraigned in Pierrepont Town Court and released under the supervision of probation, deputies said.
The results of the investigation were turned over to United States Postal Service investigators with a possibility of substantial fines to be issued, officers noted.
