MASSENA -- The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints is inviting the community to use their family history center free of charge.
The center is one of more than 4,500 locations in a global network of family history centers, most of which are located inside Mormon meetinghouses.
Anyone can access genealogical records and receive personal assistance to learn how to search for their ancestors, church officials said.
In addition to the resources available in person, church also offers records from over 100 countries for free through www.familysearch.org.
The church is working on a massive digitization project (called “indexing”) that will bring billions of names into that collection.
The center is at 284 Andrews St. and is open to the public on Thursdays from 6 to 8 p.m. p.m. or by appointment by calling Tracey Trimm at 643-2129.
