MASSENA -- Village police say they charged a man with felony assault for allegedly breaking bones in another man’s face during an early Sunday morning fight at Nadeau’s Tavern.
Matthew J. Green, 28, of 54 McClusky Ave. is charged with second-degree assault, village police said.
Court documents say Green “caused serious injury” to David Morse around 12:48 a.m. Aug. 23.
Morse told police he was picking his wife up from the bar and went inside to briefly chat with a friend while his wife watched their young daughter in the car.
He said he left the bar after several minutes and Green was yelling at him from the porch about leaving the child unattended, according to court documents.
The two exchanged words that gradually became more heated, which ended in Green punching Morse and breaking his nose and a facial bone, court documents state.
Green was arraigned in Massena Village Court by Justice Eric Gustafson and released after posting $1,500 bail, police said.
He is to return to court Sept. 25 at 1:30 p.m.
