MASSENA -- The Greater Massena Chamber of Commerce is holding a “Raise the Roof” Raffle to help cover the cost of a roof replacement project for its 16 Church St. offices.
Raffle prizes include an Apple Sport Watch, iPad Air 2, and an 11-inch Mac Book Air. Each prize will be awarded separately through one drawing. If one’s primary interest is the iPad, check the box on the ticket for an iPad.
Tickets are $5 each or five for $20. They will go on sale this weekend at the Heritage Festival and will be available all summer at the Chamber of Commerce Office, the St. Lawrence Seaway Eisenhower Lock gift store and information center, or at various chamber events.
Chamber board members will also have tickets to sell.
The drawing will be Saturday, Sept. 12 at the chamber’s Harvest Festival. Prizes will be drawn and announced at 2 p.m. People must be at least 18 years old to enter.
Proceeds from the drawing will used to cover part of the estimated $20,000 cost for replacing the roof on the West Orvis Street side of the chamber building. They chamber says they will need additional fundraising to complete the project.
Ann Viskovich, acting chamber president, said it’s not often that the organization appeals directly to the public for its fundraising.
“Typically the chamber obtains its operational funding from income earned at various events throughout the year. But the very significant expense of the roof repair forces us to raise additional money,” she said.
