CANTON -- A BOCES computer technician and former Massena Central School secretary was appointed to the St. Lawrence County Board of Legislators to replace Jonathan Putney.
Lisa Bell was appointed Monday to fill the remainder of Putney’s term, which ends in December. Putney announced he would resign as he was moving out of his legislative district to be closer to family.
A committee comprised of the county legislator’s Democrats recommended Bell. The committee included Rick Perkins, Tony Arquiett, Gregory Paquin and Stephen Putman.
St. Lawrence County Chairman Joseph Lightfoot, a Republican, said that according to the county bylaws the full board is obligated to appoint whomever the committee recommends.
Bell now represents District 15, which includes Waddington, Louisville and a small part of Massena.
