MASSENA -- Massena Central School Board of Education will select potential superintendent candidates Nov. 17.
They are looking to replace Interim Superintendent of Schools William Flynn. He was hired earlier this year as a temporary replacement for another interim superintendent, William Crist. Crist left the district over the summer to work for a Catholic school district in the Syracuse area. He had replaced former Superintendent Roger Clough, who left the area in 2013 to take a position with a school district in the Glens Falls area.
The hopefuls will be interviewed by board members Dec. 1, 2, and 3.
Finalist interviews will be conducted on Jan. 12, 13 and 14, 2015. Five different committees have been established to interview the three finalists on these dates.
Teachers, administrators, support staff, students, and the community will all provide input to the board about the finalists.
To aid in the process the school board will solicit feedback from the community on the final three superintendent candidates.
Parents and community members interested in serving on the committee should notify Candy Prairie in the District Office by Dec. 5.
Members of the community interview committee must be available to attend a workshop for all committee members on Jan. 6, 2015 at 3:45 p.m. as well as the three finalist interviews on Jan, 12, 13, and 14 at 4:30 p.m. each afternoon. It is important that all members who serve on the community interview committee understand that they must attend the workshop and all three-interview sessions.
The Massena Board of Education is working with consulting firm of Castallo and Silky from Syracuse, New York to assist with the superintendent search.
Alan Pole will work directly with the board, as well as five interview committees.
Parents and community members interested in serving on the interview committee may notify Candy Prairie by phone at 764-3700, extension 3008 or by email at cprairie@mcs.k12.ny.us.
Once a listing of all interested community members has been established, a committee of seven to ten people will be selected by the Massena Board of Education.
