MASSENA -- The Board of Education adopted the budget schedule for the upcoming year on Wednesday.
Feb. 6 – Finance committee will make an initial budget presentation to the public and school board.
March 1 – The board will submit the tax levy limit to the state Comptroller, Tax and Finance, and Education departments.
March 6 – Board of Education will review feedback from initial presentation and update preliminary figures.
April 3 – Budget workshop, regular board meeting.
April 5 – First of four legal notices of budget hearing and vote will be published.
April 24 – School board will adopt 2014-15 proposed budget, election inspectors will be appointed.
April 26 – Property tax report card submitted to state Education Department.
April 28 – Board of Education will vote on BOCES administrative budget and board members. School board will also consider any propositions to go on the ballot for the May vote.
May 5 – Budget statement and required attachments must be available on school website.
May 13 – School board will hold a budget hearing.
May 14 – Budget notices will be mailed to voters.
May 20 – Budget vote, school board election.
