The Massena Central High School Girls Hockey Team and coach Jennifer Gray visited Albany Wednesday and were congratulated for winning the New York State Regional Championship this past winter.
North Country Sen. Joseph A. Griffo, R-Rome and Sen. Patty Ritchie, R-Heuvelton both spoke about the hard work and dedication the team showed both on the ice and off.

“We sincerely applaud your athletic skills and talents and the championship that you all won, but also that you’ve done so well academically,” Griffo told the team as they stood in Senate chambers Wednesday afternoon. “You have a done a great justice, not only to the sport, but also to your community and to your school.”
Griffo added, “You will remember these experiences. They are great memories to continue to have and share, but also you’ll continue to be great role models as you go on in life to pursue other career choices and higher education.”
