The National Weather Service has all of St. Lawrence County under a hazardous weather outlook through Monday, with sleet and rain expected Wednesday.

Meteorologists say there is a 40 to 50 percent chance of light snow Tuesday night with temperatures in the mid 20s.

Wednesday brings chances as high as 80 percent of rain, sleet or wintry mix around the county with thermometers predicted to show in the mid- to high-30s.

There is a 100 percent chance of rain countywide on Wednesday night with temperatures in the high 30s, according to the NWS.

What the NWS says is definite rain is expected to continue until Thursday, with temperatures rising to the mid- to high-40s.

Forecasters say Thursday night could drop as low as 17 degrees with a 70 percent chance of rain and snow followed by a 70 percent chance of snow.

Friday is looking at a 40 percent chance of snow with temperatures in the low 20s, the NWS says.

The detailed forecast for Potsdam:

Tuesday night - A 40 percent chance of light snow, mainly after midnight. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 24. Northeast wind 5 to 7 mph becoming calm in the evening. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Wednesday - Snow and sleet likely before 2pm, then rain and sleet likely between 2pm and 3pm, then rain after 3pm. High near 35. Northeast wind 5 to 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. New snow and sleet accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Wednesday night - Light rain before 8pm, then rain after 8pm. Low around 35. Northeast wind 10 to 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between three quarters and one inch possible.

Thursday - Rain. High near 46. East wind 5 to 9 mph becoming southwest in the afternoon. Chance of precipitation is 100%. New precipitation amounts between a quarter and half of an inch possible.

Thursday night - Rain likely before 9pm, then rain and snow likely between 9pm and 10pm, then snow likely after 10pm. Cloudy, with a low around 18. West wind 6 to 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%. New precipitation amounts between a tenth and quarter of an inch possible.

Friday - Snow likely before 8am, then a chance of snow showers after 8am. Partly sunny, with a high near 21. West wind around 14 mph. Chance of precipitation is 70%.

Friday night - A 40 percent chance of snow showers before 8pm. Partly cloudy, with a low around 8. West wind 5 to 11 mph.

Saturday - A 30 percent chance of snow showers after 8am. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 32. Southwest wind 6 to 11 mph increasing to 12 to 17 mph in the afternoon.

Saturday night - A 50 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 13. Southwest wind 11 to 17 mph.

Sunday - A 50 percent chance of snow showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 21. West wind 6 to 10 mph.

Sunday night - A 30 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 11. Light west wind.

Monday - A 40 percent chance of snow showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 25. West wind 5 to 10 mph.
