MASSENA – A South Raquette Road cabinet shop has been destroyed by fire.
North Country Millworks, 128 South Raquette Road, owned by Creig L. Donnelly of Brasher Falls, was declared a total loss despite the efforts of Massena firefighters, backed by volunteers from Louisville and Norfolk fire departments.
Heavy smoke from the blaze was visible for miles around.
The alarm was called into emergency personnel at 2:24 p.m. Wednesday. The Massena department was back in service at 7:22 p.m. Standing by were the Waddington and Norwood fire departments.
St. Lawrence County fire investigators said the blaze was accidental, and that the structure was a total loss.
They say the building was insured.
