MALONE -- Massena-based SeaComm Federal Credit Union recently broke ground for a new Malone branch.

They have had a branch in the town’s Price Chopper Plaza for 26 years.

SeaComm officials, including board members and project manager, were on site for the groundbreaking ceremony near the Holiday Inn Express on U.S. Route 11.

The planned 3,500 square-foot branch will mirror the look and feel of SeaComm’s main headquarters in Massena.

The layout and design of the new branch will play into the brand and logo wave.

“There are a lot of curves in the design,” said SeaComm President Scott Wilson. “We worked a bit of a wave into the flooring and the bulkhead to give it a sense of continuity within the branch.”

The new branch will include an expanded drive-thru area, two 24/7 (interior and exterior) ATMs the company says are designed to “combat potential skimming crimes, and electronic cash recyclers or ECRs at the teller stations.”

“We are very pleased that our new location on U.S. Route 11 will give our membership access to us in a highly visible ever-expanded retail location. The Town of Malone has been very supportive of our new building project throughout the planning phase,” said Wilson. “We are very excited and look forward to the opportunity to serve our membership in our newest state-of-the-art branch in early August.”

The project design firm is P. W. Campbell, of Pittsburgh, Penn., who is also providing on-site supervision of the project.

Local laborers include AJK Site Development based in Waddington, Contech of Gouverneur, S&L Electric from Colton, Hyde Stove from Watertown and Grasse River Paving of Canton.
