Massena Artists Association seeks new members in September

MASSENA – Do you draw, paint, sculpt, carve, quilt, or take photos? Or do you wish that you could? The Massena Artists Association needs you, your ideas, your help, and your support.

The Massena Artists Association is a group of people with an interest in the visual arts who try to promote the arts in Northern New York.

MAA sponsors several art exhibits in Massena every year.

Each winter they organize the Annual Juried Show, which attracts a large variety of excellent work from nearly 100 professional and amateur regional artists.

Each fall the Annual Membership Show showcases the most recent work of MAA members.

A Spring Art Show is open to anyone in the community who would like to display their work.

Other exhibits may feature the work of individual artists, or work done by art classes.

MAA would like to increase our service to North Country Artists, but to do this, we need your input and suggestions. Do you have ideas for classes or demonstrations? Are you willing to teach a class or demonstrate your favorite techniques? Do you know of other ways to promote the arts in the North Country? If so, please join our group, and share your ideas with us.

MAA membership is open to everyone with an interest in the visual arts. Amateur, professional, commercial and student artists, educators, crafters, and art lovers are all welcome.

Meetings are held the second Tuesday of each month at 6:30 p.m. at the Massena Public Library. All meetings are open to the public.

Information about the Annual Membership Show and application forms may be picked up at the Massena Public Library.

For more information, or to receive application forms by mail, call Cecilia Dewey at 769-6210 or Dorothy Badger at 769-5571.
