POTSDAM -- Potsdam Police ecacuated the Market Street Mall after responding to an emergency involving a person who allegedly injured his or herself at 10:32 a.m. Saturday.
Police received a complaint from a person that was concerned for the welfare of a person that was located in an office at the Market Square Mall.
The caller said they could see in the business and the person inside appeared to be injured.
Patrols responded and the building was evacuated after it was determined the person had sustained a self inflicted injury and was barricaded in an office.
Police eventually were able to remove the person from the office.
Police were assisted on scene by the St.Lawrence County Sheriff's Department, the New York State Police, and the SUNY Potsdam Police.
Potsdam Rescue transported the individual to Canton-Potsdam Hospital and Potsdam Fire also assisted with traffic control.
