GOUVERNEUR -- A Gouverneur Central School graduate and United States Marine, who was reported missing this morning, was found dead following a car accident in North Carolina, according to several news outlets in the area.
An unofficial press release sent to NorthCountryNow.com said Marines Skyler D. Way and Nick Buscarnera were missing since Tuesday night.
According to WCTI12.com the same Marines were found dead in an overturned car in a canal off Catfish Lake Road in the Croatan National Forest.
WCTI says investigators reported the driver, who was not identified, had been speeding and lost control.
According to the story, The Marine Corps banned Marines from driving on Catfish Lake Road in 2010 after a total 10 people were killed in accidents on that road since 2009.
While a student at Gouverneur Central School, Way participated on the Wildcats wrestling team.
