NORWOOD — Norwood police said they charged a man after he allegedly damaged a windshield of a vehicle of a protected party July 22.

Scott J. Ashley, 47, was charged with first-offense criminal contempt, felony; third-degree criminal mischief, felony; second-degree criminal trespassing and fourth-degree stalking, officers said.

Ashley violated an order or protection by entering the home of a protected party who lives in Norwood, police said.

When the protected party saw Ashley inside the home she got into her vehicle to leave the residence, officers said. As she was leaving Ashley hit the windshield and caused damage to it.

The victim was able to escape from Ashley, police said.

Ashley was allegedly seen going back into the residence and made over 30 calls to the protected party throughout the day.

Ashley left the residence before police showed up but was picked up by Potsdam police Monday on an unrelated matter and turned over to Norwood police.

He was arraigned in Norfolk court and remanded to St. Lawrence County Jail on $5,000 bail, officers said.
