NORWOOD — Norwood police said they arrested a man Saturday in the Dollar General parking lot after he fled on foot and later kicked a patrol car causing damage to the door.
Police said they responded to Dollar General, 57 South Main St., following a tip that Scott J. Ashley, 47, Syracuse, was inside the store with a female that has an order of protection against him.
When police arrived at the store they witnessed Ashley inside the store with the protected party.
Ashley ran from officers were they went to place him under arrest, police said. Officers were able to catch him in the parking lot and arrest him.
When being escorted to the police vehicle, Ashley kicked the door causing damage to it, officers said.
Ashley was charged with second-degree criminal contempt, fourth-degree criminal mischief and resisting arrest.
He was arraigned in Norfolk court and sent to St. Lawrence County Jail on $1,000 bail.
He is to answer the charged in Potsdam court at a later date.
Norwood police were assistance by Norfolk police during the incident.
