CANTON -- A man was jailed Tuesday night for allegedly striking a St. Lawrence County sheriff's deputy with a car door after being found asleep at the wheel.
Deputies said they responded to a report of a vehicle off the road on U.S. Highway 11 and discovered Timothy J. Ladison, 42, Watertown, asleep at the wheel.
Ladison refused to exit the vehicle when deputies asked him to do so and shouted obscenities, deputies said.
He then intentionally struck a deputy multiple times with his car door before he was taken into custody, officers said.
Ladison was charged with first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation, felony, driving while intoxicated, resisting arrest, drinking alcohol in a motor vehicle, refusal to take a breath test and second-degree-harassment.
He was remanded to the St. Lawrence County Correctional Facility on $1,500 bail or $3,000 bond.
