MASSENA — The Massena Police Department says they discovered 250 packets of heroin and 50 grams of crack cocaine during a traffic stop on Park Avenue Sunday morning.
The drugs were found following a Border Patrol K-9 unit search of the vehicle and the drugs have a street value of over $10,000, police said.
Shawn Moyd, 22, of Jersey City, N.J. is charged with a federal count of possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance, police said.
“This arrest is a good example of the efforts and cooperation between the various law enforcement agencies in this county,” said Massena Police Chief Adam Love.
The case was turned over to the federal government for prosecution, officers said.
Moyd was transported to St. Lawrence County Jail on a federal detainer, police said.
“Today’s arrest is just a part of our ongoing efforts in this agencies commitment to arrest people that bring and deal drugs in this community,” Love said.
The St. Lawrence County Drug Task Force and Homeland Security assisted with the investigation.
