GOUVERNEUR — Canton-based state police said they arrested a man for possession of dangerous prison contraband Wednesday stemming from a March 29 complaint, according to state police.
Gerard M. Mercado, 36, Poughkeepsie, was charged with first-degree possession of prison contraband and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon, both felonies, police said.
He was also charged with seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, troopers said.
His status was listed as held.
