Man charged with possessing two pounds of pot in Canton

CANTON -- A Constable man was charged with possessing two pounds of marijuana after he was stopped by U.S. Customs and Border Patrol agents on State Route 11, according to state police.

Cory D. Laplant, 37, of Constable, was charged with criminal possession of marijuana following a U.S. Customs and Border Patrol traffic stop.

A U.S. Border Patrol K-9 alerted to the vehicle while Laplant was being questioned by officers. New York State Police said a vehicle search was conducted, and Laplant was found to be in possession of approximately two pounds of the plant.

Laplant was arraigned in Morristown Town Court and released under the supervision of probation. He is to return to Morristown Town Court on Jan. 25.
