POTSDAM – Potsdam police have charged a Delaware man with driving while his blood alcohol level was nearly three times the legal limit.
Eric J. Evans, 23, Wilmington, Del., was stopped by a village officer along Maple Street at 1:56 a.m. Sunday after the officer saw that the driver allegedly was not wearing a seat belt.
Testing showed that Evans had a blood alcohol level of .23 percent, nearly triple the .08 percent threshold for a DWI charge.
Evans was issued tickets for first-offense DWI, aggravated DWI, and a seat belt violation.
He will answer the charges in Village Court Jan. 30.
