MASSENA -- A Massena man is facing several charges after pulling a knife on people attempting to intervene in a domestic violence situation that unfolded in public.
Andrew T. Ruby, 29, of State Highway 37C, Massena is charged with fourth-degree criminal mischief, second-degree menacing and resisting arrest, all misdemeanors. He is also charged with two counts of second-degree harassment, police said.
Ruby was charged after allegedly becoming physical with his wife at Elm Circle early on Sunday morning, Chief Adam Love said.
Three people showed up to intervene and Ruby allegedly started shoving people to the ground. He then pulled a knife on a male that got involved, the chief said.
Ruby was charged at 1:02 a.m. at Bridges Avenue and Elm Circle, police said.
After being taken into custody, he scuffled and started a fight with officers, Love said.
Ruby was arraigned by Massena Justice Eric Gustafson and released under supervision of the Probation Department, police said.
